The problem
Four teams had built four versions of every button. Accessibility audits kept failing on the same issues, and new features took weeks to look ‘on brand’.
Process
- Audited 1,400 screens and grouped every pattern into a single inventory.
- Defined tokens first, then rebuilt 38 components with engineering, accessibility built in.
- Wrote documentation around decisions, not just props, and ran office hours weekly.
Outcome
All four teams now build from one library. New screens pass accessibility review the first time, and the brand refresh took a day instead of a quarter.
